The IB CAS (Creativity, activity, service) is an essential element that all IB DP students need to complete as part of the Diploma Programme (DP).
High School is also the time when students generally formulate an idea of their future careers and in a few years, will be stepping into the world of work.
We are an EdTech startup based in Switzerland and give IB DP students an opportunity to get a glimpse of the real world of work through our ‘Work Experience Programme (WEP)’ where IB DP students get hands-on experience in our company that itself focuses on IB education.
In the 1-8 weeks of online collaboration, IB DP students get to choose from a wide variety of streams of work: business development, process re-engineering, marketing strategy, content development, social media and much more. This is followed by briefing sessions and regular meetings with staff. Participants get to set their own agenda and discuss this with their supervisor. They also get to sit in on important meetings.
IB students are challenged to come up with new ideas that could contribute to the business and its success. Our company also benefits from young and fresh minds that can think out of the box. Hence, a win-win situation for all!
This is what some of the previous participants have to say:
“I’m leaving with a newfound respect and appreciation for this company dedicated to our success. Additionally, I’m leaving with a much clearer idea of what working is really like and what path I’m planning to take in the future.”
“…to the majority of 16-year olds, I’d say I’m a little lost in space regarding the future and what it means for me; however, thanks to this week I’ve formed a better understanding of not only what business development & marketing entails but also how much I enjoy it.”
